WESTERN ART

"My work is a culmination of the knowledge I have gained working in various fields of art. I am inspired by the work of those who came before me, and hope to approach western art from a different angle and provide a new perspective to this iconic field. As a detail oriented designer and artist, I find myself very inspired by the old illustrators. Carefully planned and executed, I tend to approach every painting as a designer rather than a traditional artist. 

I find myself wanting a little bit of everything in terms of my subject matter, while I aim to maintain a simplistic yet strong composition. I am obsessed with any imagery that conveys the "iconic west" and hope to translate that through my paintings. I aim to evoke a sense of familiarity and nostalgia throughout my work. I try to translate my sense of the west and create it through a lens of my own. 

It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what makes me drawn to the west, but as you can see from my artistic experiences, I do not like to be tied down to one "look "or creative direction. I tend to make work that speaks to me. Whether that is a painting or a graphic t-shirt, I hope to continue to push my own creative abilities while continuing to explore such an iconic and rich genre.” - Nick Vold
